Notes for Contributors
All contributions must be provided in hard copy and in electronic format on a CD or as an attachment to an email, preferably as a Word™ document. Please use the existing house style of NP&P, details can be supplied on request.
Normally, the maximum length for articles is 6,500 to 7,000 words. Shorter articles and small news items are also welcome. Draft texts may be sent for discussion.
Printed references used more than a few times should be abbreviated after the first time and referred back to the full citation.
Each article should have at least one illustration and full articles at least three. All illustrations must be of good quality with copyright permission stated and obtained where appropriate. If digital illustrations are provided they should be in separate files, in either JPEG or TIFF format, preferably with a resolution of at least 300 dpi.
Northamptonshire Record Society displays the following copyright statement in all of its published material:
The copyright in the text of the work and in any illustrations supplied by the author(s) shall remain vested in the author(s), but the publishers shall during the legal term of copyright have right from the date hereof to produce, print and publish the work in book form and in any other form or medium including all print media and electronic media either known about or as yet not invented. The licence so granted extends to all languages and all parts of the world.
It is felt that this statement not only protects both author(s) and Record Society but also allows authors to register for Public Lending Rights.
