The Cartulary of Daventry Priory

Daventry was one of the houses dissolved by Cardinal Wolsey in 1526 in order to provide for the endowment of his new college in Oxford. The college, after the intervention of Henry V111, became Christ Church. A large number of original charters, on which this compilation was originally based, were still preserved there until 1927, when they were deposited in the Bodleian Library. However, there is no evidence that the cartulary ever went to Oxford.
